1777年，英国人 William Bass 创立了巴斯（BASS）公司；1875年，巴斯的红三角商标成为英国第一个注册商标。巴斯公司成立之初，主要以饮料和啤酒的生产和销售为主。到了20世纪60年代，巴斯公司成为了英国最大的酿酒商，也拥有最多的酒馆。1988年购入Holiday Inns International，开始涉足宾馆业。
