2015年7月1日起，上海通用汽车有限公司及其子/分公司名称变更，变更后的公司名称为“上汽通用汽车有限公司”。旗下别克、雪佛兰和凯迪拉克品牌的国产车型新出厂的车辆尾标上的“上海通用”也将陆续变为“上汽通用”。从“上海”到“上汽”，表面看仅一字之差，但恰是这一个字，体现了上汽集团对合资企业可持续发展的信心，也表明了合资双方进一步加深合作的意愿。同时，从“上海”到“上汽”，也使合资企业获得世界500强“上汽集团”的清晰背书，有利于合资企业争取更多优势资源。
